Erik Forsgren is a Swedish photographer, model & blogger who recently spent his summer in the south of Italy. Erik has shared his experiences with Vacay and we think its worth seeing!
Vacay: Why the south of Italy?
Erik: It was somewhere my girlfriend and I have always wanted to go. Its rich history and amazing scenery is something that we were told truly has to be seen in person to appreciate... and now we know why.
Vacay: What were the people like?
Erik: We met some of the friendliest people on our travels which made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. We befriended a local in a coffee shop we stopped at on our first day in Brindisi and he insisted on showing us around the town for the day... it was absolutely incredible.
Vacay: Your favourite city in the south of Italy?
Erik: Such a tough question to answer as every place was amazing and we seemed to create our own special memories throughout every place we traveled. But if I had to choose one... certainly the Amalfi coast. The scenery is something right out of a postcard and honestly I can't wait to go back.
Vacay: Any tips for anyone thinking of travelling to the south of Italy?
Erik: Not specific to Italy but more general travel advice: try to stay with someone that lives there instead of a hotel. Whether that is a friend or Airbnb, it is an awesome way to feel like a part of the city and get some local knowledge.
For Italy, there is so much beauty throughout the whole southern region so try to get away from the city centre at least one day. Some of our best hidden gems were found just walking the streets.
Vacay: How would you describe your trip in 5 words?
Erik: Beautiful, Refreshing, Romantic, Different, Memorable.
